District of Columbia EV Incentives & Savings
Electric vehicles registered in the District are exempt from emissions inspections, although some heavier models may be subject to a weight-based registration surcharge. Pepco offers time-of-use electric rates to lower home charging costs, complementing the dense network of public charging stations available across the city.
District of Columbia EV incentive programs
District of Columbia currently has no state-level EV incentive programs for consumers. The federal Clean Vehicle Tax Credit (Section 30D, up to $7,500) expired September 30, 2025 and is no longer available for new purchases. The federal 30C residential charging credit (30% up to $1,000) remains available through June 30, 2026.
