Hawaii EV Incentives & Savings
Electric vehicles with special license plates are granted access to high-occupancy vehicle lanes regardless of the number of passengers. The consistently mild climate helps maximize battery range and performance throughout the year.
Hawaii EV incentive programs
Hawaii currently has no state-level EV incentive programs for consumers. The federal Clean Vehicle Tax Credit (Section 30D, up to $7,500) expired September 30, 2025 and is no longer available for new purchases. The federal 30C residential charging credit (30% up to $1,000) remains available through June 30, 2026.
Check back periodically — states frequently introduce new EV programs as adoption grows.
