North Dakota EV Incentives & Savings
The state's cold winters can reduce battery range, making home charging and pre-heating the cabin while plugged in important strategies for drivers. Electric vehicle owners pay an additional annual registration fee, and public fast charging is primarily located along major interstate corridors.
North Dakota EV incentive programs
North Dakota currently has no state-level EV incentive programs for consumers. The federal Clean Vehicle Tax Credit (Section 30D, up to $7,500) expired September 30, 2025 and is no longer available for new purchases. The federal 30C residential charging credit (30% up to $1,000) remains available through June 30, 2026.
Check back periodically — states frequently introduce new EV programs as adoption grows.
