Rhode Island EV Incentives & Savings
Electric vehicles are exempt from the state's mandatory emissions inspections, saving owners an annual testing fee. Utilities in the state provide time-of-use rate plans that can lower the cost of charging an EV at home.
Rhode Island EV incentive programs
Rhode Island currently has no state-level EV incentive programs for consumers. The federal Clean Vehicle Tax Credit (Section 30D, up to $7,500) expired September 30, 2025 and is no longer available for new purchases. The federal 30C residential charging credit (30% up to $1,000) remains available through June 30, 2026.
